Should you take a walk into this shophouse at Joo Chiat Road, you might not immediately be able to visually reconcile the interior design with the idea of its actual property type.

It was the homeowners’ request to turn this space into a cosy loft, within a period of two months, and that is what they got – and more. No walls were removed to create a larger space, using details such as lacquered raw plywood, marble flooring, spray painted glass and a stucco wall to help facilitate its design, without the re-using of any furniture.

With custom made wooden stools, cabinets and a play on warm lighting, the inviting feel of this converted space beckons whoever wanders within its earlier perimeters to take a further stroll towards the interior

Details like a beautifully created corner near the foot of the stairs that allows for multi-purpose use inspires the attention for a quiet evening of reading or simple catching up with a small group of friends over.

Wood detailingon a feature wallcompliments the marble flooring perfectly while enlarging the space, while a futuristic elegance is spoken through clean lines that matches with the neighbouring island counter.

It is not difficult to imagine how a meal can easily be enjoyed both in the cooking process and dining with a wall mounted television at a comfortable distance, while the surrounding area is an embrace of complimenting colour tones and material.

Fuss-free and completely heartwarming, this shophouse unit truly translates vision and heart into reality.
